Design Process / FAQs
ANNIEBAM offers two landscape solution approaches to the design process.
1) Master Plan: A complete multi-layered design with detailed concepts
2) Consultation(s): Recommendations and proposed landscape solutions with top-line sketches
How do I know which landscape process is best for me?
A Master Plan is a great solution for homeowners that want to renovate or need a new front yard, back yard, or both. This process gives time for investigation, conversation, observation and to scale drawings. A Consultation is a good fit for a face lift with plantings on one or two bed areas, or to get some recommendations on location or shapes of patios, decks, and fencing. Usually a consultation lasts a minimum of an hour up to two hours.
How do we get started?
How long does the process take?
Consultations are a minimum of one hour and a maximum of three hours. Master Plans start with my Design Questionnaire that I send to you prior to our first meeting. After that initial meeting, and depending on the scale of the property, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks with meetings during that time to have a start-to-finish Master Plan with landscape solutions.
What kind of information do I need to have ready for a consultation or Master Plan meeting?
Any kind of information is good information, be it pictures from magazines, books, photos from the camera, Pinterest, or Houzz.com — any kind of images that communicate a style. Knowing your budget helps me be more effective for you. If you don’t know how much a landscape solution may cost, that is fine, just know how much you can spend and we will get the best, most efficient, and most innovative solution for you.
How much does it cost for design work?
All design work is based on an hourly amount. Consultations are paid on the day of service. For Master Plans, I give a proposed range of hours. A contract is signed and a 50% retainer is collected then. Depending on the size of the project payment, schedules are created for the rest of the payment.
What type of jobs do I create?
I mostly do residential, but at times I will do commercial. My clients tend to be interested in quality of life and the best value for their dollar. I love navigating a budget to get the best bang for my clients buck, as well as resilient, efficient and sustainable solutions.
After working with ANNIEBAM on our front yard we vowed to have her come back to help us out with our patios out back. We are thrilled with her proposed design. Once again she was able to accommodate both our goals and restraints. Annie was mindful of my desire to personalize the plantings. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that interaction and thoughtful approach.Janice Guziec, MD
