ALS Concrete did the Porch, walls, and walkways. Oregon decorative lighting did night lighting.

The story of this garden remodel starts where a lot of stories begin: Drainage problems. This happened to be at the front door, which also was not a clear entrance. The aesthetic desired by the client were simple, clean lines. Almost a minimalist approach — but with some interest.

With all of this in mind, we created a clear flow of traffic to the front door with a new walkway and built out the front porch to have more prominence and connection to the rest of the yard. We moved the stairs from the street to create a curving walkway to the front door.

Take a peek at the back deck. We created a sanctuary with containers bountiful with herbs, flowers, and trees.

We created new walls to connect the steps to the landscape. We also had a rotten deck that needed to be remedied. This deck is the main spot the homeowners enter and exit the house. The solution was to remove the deck and a large weeping Japanese Maple. This was a tough decision, but one that could not be avoided.

Now a clean concrete deck with time period accents etched in the cement serves as a relaxing place to sit. To keep with the theme of clean and simple with interest, we used repetitive planting combos with distinct foliage, texture, and architecture.
